The Institute Dr. Janez E. Krek (IJEK) firmly rejects the allegations that the Institute in any way finances the work or activities of any political party or serves as a tool for circumvention financing of political parties.
The Institute operates as a private foundation which, following the model of similar institutes in Europe and worldwide, systematically engages in civic and political education and connects experts in the fields of economics, politics, and social affairs. In recent years, more than 700 participants have attended the Institute’s educational programs; we have organized many (including international) conferences and round tables, and we have participated as partners in numerous projects. We are integrated into various European networks of such organizations and cooperate with key institutes across Europe.
As we already responded to a media inquiry on August 31, 2025, due to contractual clauses the Dr. Janez Evangelist Krek Institute unfortunately cannot publicly disclose the names of companies that have in the past supported the Institute’s work through donations.
For the implementation of its activities and projects, the Institute contracts with various external collaborators, including individuals who also work for the political party Nova Slovenija (New Slovenia), and pays them for the work performed within the framework of the Institute. We emphasize that funds from the Institute have never been used to pay for the work of the Secretary General of NSi, the International Secretary of NSi, or employees of the NSi public relations office.
We reject any insinuation that the contracts between the Institute and its collaborators are fictitious or intended as a means of circumvention financing of political parties. Anyone who has received payment from the Institute has also performed the agreed work and thus fulfilled their obligation to the Institute. Over the past years, the Institute has organized numerous high-quality and well-recognized activities, earning respect among partners both at home and abroad.
The Institute’s activities in individual years depend on many factors—such as the activity of the director, international partnerships, donations, etc.—and we therefore reject any suggested link between annual revenues and the timing of various elections.
We have already informed our international partners about the pressures exerted on our Institute, and we will, if necessary, also use legal remedies against defamation and damage to our good name.
